Forty for 40: A Literary Reader for Lent - The Millions.
Lent is a season in the Christian Church which focuses on repentance, peneitance, devotion and renewal. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter. This is a total of 40 days, excluding Sundays. Lent is commemoration of the temptation of Jesus Christ and also the Last Supper, His betrayal, arrest, crucifixion and death. Three days later, however, He was raised from the dead.
Lent, as mothers around the country are sure to remind you, is all about giving generously! Good Friday is a bit of a strange name. The term “Good Friday” seems a bit strange at first glance given that it is the day we remember Jesus’ crucifixion and burial. Scholars continue to debate the correct origin of the word good; some attribute it as meaning Holy, or Pious, while others argue.
On That Day by Scott Soper In this recording of music for Lent, Triduum, and Eastertime, Scott shows off his compositional skills: a gift for melody, refined harmonies, evocative interpretations of psalms and canticles, and arrangements of traditional tunes.

As we embark on our Lenten journeys each year, we often think of those journeys as personal and private. We enter into a somewhat solitary season of reflection, prayer, fasting, reading and meditation. Indeed, the liturgical season of Lent gives us opportunities for personal reflection like no other time in the church year. Perhaps we have been influenced in our quest for an individual journey.

Here are some of the best resources (some outside the box) that I have found in the music area for Lent and Easter. GIA Publications has a very rich array of music for the season. Discipleship Ministries has some good music resources for Lent, mainly available as free downloads. Paul Neeley posts extensively on music resources for all seasons of the church year.
